ANM Nurse

Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) roles and responsibilities center on providing primary healthcare, particularly maternal and child health, in community settings. Key duties include prenatal and postnatal care, assisting in deliveries, administering immunizations, and providing health education on topics like family planning, nutrition, and sanitation. They are also responsible for monitoring patient health, offering basic treatment for minor ailments, managing health records, and referring complicated cases to higher-level facilities. Maternal and child health

• Provide prenatal and postnatal care.
• Assist in normal deliveries and refer complicated cases.
• Promote institutional deliveries.
• Educate mothers on infant care, nutrition, breastfeeding, and family planning.
• Provide home-based newborn care.

Immunization and disease prevention

• Administer immunizations to children and women.
• Provide education on the prevention of common infections and communicable diseases.
• Distribute supplies like oral rehydration salts and oral contraceptive pills.
• Assist in disease surveillance by reporting births, deaths, and unusual health problems.

Community health and education

• Conduct health and nutrition education programs.
• Promote environmental sanitation and hygiene.
• Mobilize the community and facilitate access to health services.
• Work with health committees to develop and implement health plans.

Patient care and support

• Provide first aid for minor injuries and treat minor ailments like diarrhea and fevers.
• Monitor patients' conditions, vital signs, and record health information.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
• Offer emotional support to patients and their families.
• Maintain an inventory of necessary medical supplies.
