Overview of the Role
The Account Manager serves as the essential link between clients and the internal creative team acting as the Bridge that ensures smooth communication, strategic clarity, and successful project execution. This role is not responsible for design or copywriting, but requires a strong understanding of creative processes to effectively translate client needs into actionable direction for designers, writers, and production teams. The ideal candidate is a relationship-builder who can balance client expectations, manage multiple moving parts, and ensure projects are delivered on time, on strategy, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
1. Client Relationship Management
Primary Client Contact:
Act as the first point of communication for assigned clients, ensuring they feel supported, heard, and confident in the agency's capabilities.Build Trust & Rapport:
Develop long-term, positive relationships with clients through consistent communication, responsiveness, and a solutions-oriented approach.Brand Stewardship:
Become deeply familiar with the clients brand, tone, goals, and challenges to represent their interests internally with accuracy and insight.
2. Strategic Intake & Requirement Gathering
Understand Client Objectives:
Meet with clients to capture the purpose, target audience, messaging goals, and success metrics of each project or campaign.Clarify Ambiguities:
Ask probing questions to ensure full clarity on deliverables, expected outcomes, and potential constraints.Provide Strategic Input:
Offer guidance based on industry knowledge and creative best practices to help shape stronger briefs and project outcomes.
3. Creative Brief Development
Translate Client Needs:
Convert client discussions, raw ideas, and unstructured thoughts into detailed, coherent, and inspiring creative briefs.Set Clear Direction:
Outline project objectives, audience insights, deliverable requirements, tone guidelines, timelines, and success criteria for the creative team.Align Expectations:
Ensure both the client and internal team have a shared understanding of the project scope and objectives before execution begins.
4. Project & Workflow Management
Manage Project Timelines:
Oversee the full lifecycle of each project from initial briefing to final deliveryensuring all deadlines are met.Cross-Team Coordination:
Work closely with designers, copywriters, strategists, and other stakeholders to keep tasks on track.Remove Roadblocks:
Identify issues early and proactively solve them to maintain project momentum and minimize disruption.Quality Assurance:
Review deliverables before sharing with the client to ensure alignment with the brief and brand guidelines.
5. Feedback & Communication Handling
Collect & Clarify Client Feedback:
Receive comments, revisions, or concerns from clients and translate them into clear, constructive direction for the creative team.Protect Team Morale:
Provide feedback in a way that maintains a positive working atmosphere and encourages creative solutions.Manage Expectations:
Communicate realistic timelines, limitations, and strategic considerations to prevent misunderstandings.
6. Financial Oversight & Budget Control
Monitor Project Budgets:
Track costs throughout the project lifecycle to ensure work stays within agreed budget parameters.Scope Management:
Identify when client requests fall outside the original scope and manage change requests professionally.Support Negotiations:
Assist in presenting revised costs or additional budget requirements when extra work is requested.
What We Are Looking For (Requirements)
1. Professional Experience
Agency Background:
Previous experience working in an advertising, creative, digital, or marketing agency (including junior-level roles).Understanding of Creative Workflows:
Familiarity with the pace, pressure, and structure of agency life—especially cross-functional team dynamics.
