Works Manager -Crusher plant

Role & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

1. Plant Operations & Production

• Manage daily operations of the stone/aggregate crushing plant to achieve targeted production levels.
  
• Monitor plant performance, optimize process flow, and minimize downtime.
  
• Ensure efficient operation of crushers, screens, conveyors, loaders, and related equipment.
  
• Plan and execute production schedules based on demand and dispatch requirements.
  

2. Maintenance & Equipment Management

• Oversee preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of all plant machinery.
  
• Coordinate with mechanical and electrical teams for timely repair and upkeep.
  
• Maintain equipment logs, service history, and ensure availability of critical spares.
  
• Implement improvements to enhance equipment life and reduce operational costs.
  

3. Safety, Compliance & Quality Control

• Enforce strict safety procedures as per mining, environmental, and industrial regulations.
  
• Conduct regular safety audits, toolbox talks, and risk assessments.
  
• Ensure product quality meets required specifications (aggregate size, gradation, cleanliness, etc.).
  
• Maintain statutory compliance for plant operations, pollution control, and labor regulations.
  

4. Workforce & Administration

• Supervise operators, technicians, helpers, drivers, and contract labor.
  
• Allocate work, monitor performance, and conduct training for plant staff.
  
• Prepare daily/weekly/monthly production and maintenance reports.
  
• Manage attendance, shift schedules, and coordinate with HR and management.
  

5. Inventory & Cost Control

• Monitor usage of fuel, lubricants, explosives (if applicable), and raw materials.
  
• Manage inventory of spares, tools, and consumables.
  
• Control operational expenses and ensure cost-effective practices.
  
• Liaise with vendors and service providers for procurement and technical support.
  

6. Coordination & Communication

• Work closely with quarry teams, logistics, and dispatch departments.
  
• Coordinate with management on planning, budgeting, and operational improvements.
  
• Handle inspections and visits by government authorities or clients.
  

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma/B.E. in Mechanical, Mining, or Civil Engineering (preferred).
  
• 715 years of experience in crushing plant operations, preferably in mining, construction, or aggregate industry.
  
• Strong knowledge of crushers (Jaw, Cone, VSI), screening systems, HEMM, and material handling equipment.
  
• Excellent leadership, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.
