Workday HCM Tester

JOB SUMMARY:

The Workday HCM Test Writer & Execution Analyst plays a key role in ensuring that the new Workday Human Capital Management solution meets functional and business requirements through thorough and accurate testing. This position is responsible for designing, writing, and executing detailed test cases across HCM modules, identifying and managing defects, and working collaboratively with business and technical teams to ensure a quality outcome for the Workday ERP implementation.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Test Planning & Design

• Analyze Workday HCM business process documentation, configuration workbooks, and functional specifications to derive test conditions and scenarios.
• Develop detailed, step-by-step test scripts for relevant test phases including System Integration Testing (SIT), End-to-End Testing (E2E), and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) support.
• Identify test data requirements and prepare or coordinate test data setup in the Workday tenant.
• Maintain traceability between test cases, requirements, and defects to ensure full test coverage.

Test Execution & Defect Management

• Execute manual or automated test cases in the Workday HCM tenant and integrated systems.
• Record test outcomes and provide clear, evidence-based results.
• Identify, log, and track defects using the designated defect management tool (e.g., JIRA, Azure DevOps, ALM).
• Participate in defect triage meetings, providing detailed reproduction steps, screenshots, and test evidence.
• Retest and validate resolved defects to confirm fixes and prevent regression issues.

Collaboration & Support

• Work collaboratively with Workday Functional Consultants, HCM configuration leads, integration teams, and business subject matter experts.
• Support business testers during UAT phases with guidance, clarification, and issue investigation.
• Participate in test progress reviews and provide accurate status updates to the Test Lead.
• Contribute to test documentation, reports, and continuous improvement of test processes and templates.

Quality and Assurance:

• Ensure testing activities align with the overall Test Strategy and Workday Program Quality Framework.
• Apply consistent testing methodologies and adhere to defect management and test closure criteria.
• Support test readiness activities for mock runs, go-live validation, and post-implementation verification.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

• 2–4 years’ experience in ERP or SaaS testing, with a minimum of 1 year focused on Workday HCM.
• Proven experience writing and executing test scripts from business process documentation and functional designs.
• Understanding of Workday business process configuration and security model.
• Experience using test management and defect tracking tools such as JIRA, Zephyr, Xray, or Azure DevOps.
• Excellent analytical and documentation skills with strong attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary project environment.
• Ability to prioritise work under tight deadlines and manage competing demands.
• Experience testing multiple Workday modules or integrations between Workday and third-party systems (e.g., Payroll, Finance, or Identity Management).
• Familiarity with Agile or Hybrid delivery methodologies.
