Job Description

Role Overview: As a part of V. Group, a global leader in ship management and marine services, your role will involve undertaking projects related to shipboard systems, including system roll-outs and installation and support of computer/communication systems. You will be expected to work within dynamic teams to meet the diverse requirements of clients, group offices, and ships. Additionally, you may need to travel to managed vessels or other group offices worldwide for project implementation. Key Responsibilities: - Dealing with operational problems related to communications and computer systems onboard vessels, and resolving hardware or operational issues reported by vessels - Proactive maintenance of existing equipment, including networking equipment - Troubleshooting communication issues and escalating them to service providers - Installing and configuring new equipment such as Servers, Firewalls, Switches, PCs, and printers - Managing helpdesk tickets and completing tasks allocated from the Helpdesk system - Conducting cybersecurity audits, assessments, and implementing risk mitigation measures - Responding to and resolving cybersecurity incidents reported by vessels - Performing system health checks and maintaining records of supported systems & vessels - Providing email and phone support during weekends and public holidays - Handling any other tasks assigned by the Team Lead Vessel Support, Head of IT Operations, and Group IS Support Manager Qualification Required: - Hands-on troubleshooting skills for resolving technical issues in a high-pressure environment - Knowledge of computer hardware, software, networking, and troubleshooting - Understanding of LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, VPNs, routers, switches, and network security - Familiarity with managing servers, databases, and onboard systems - Basic knowledge of network security, firewall configurations, and vulnerability management - Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or Maritime Engineering (or equivalent) - Experience with maritime communication and navigation software such as satellite communication systems, ECDIS, and AIS - Experience in IT support in a maritime or offshore environment, especially in managing specialized IT systems onboard ships or oil rigs - Familiarity with unique IT systems used on vessels, including communication systems, onboard operational software, and bridge systems - Certification in IT Support or Networking (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, or Cisco's CCNA) is advantageous Additional Company Details: V.
