Job Description

  • Database Administration

    • Install, configure, and upgrade Vertica clusters.
    • Manage database objects (schemas, tables, projections, partitions).
    • Monitor database health, availability, and performance.
    • Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.

  • Performance & Optimization

    • Perform query tuning and workload management.
    • Optimize projections, storage, and resource usage.
    • Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks and recommend improvements.

  • Security & Compliance

    • Implement and manage user roles, privileges, and authentication.
    • Ensure compliance with data security standards (encryption, masking, auditing).
    • Work with InfoSec teams to maintain secure database environments.

  • Operations & Support

    • Provide 24x7 support for production databases (oncall rotation).
    • Automate routine DBA tasks using scripts (Shell, Python, etc.).
    • Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and analytics teams.

  • Documentation & KT

    • Maintain database inventory, architecture diagrams, and runbooks.
    • Provide knowledge transfer (KT) to operations and support teams.
