Job Title: General Manager Stores Department : Supply Chain / Inventory Management Location : Palwal Reports to : Operations Head Experience : 15 to 25 Years Industry : Steel / Heavy Manufacturing / Engineering Job Purpose: To lead and manage the stores and inventory function for the organization, ensuring efficient storage, issue, and replenishment of materials required for steel manufacturing operations, while optimizing cost, space, and ensuring compliance with company policies. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Responsibilities: Develop and implement robust inventory management strategies aligned with production and business goals. Establish and monitor KPIs related to inventory turnover, accuracy, storage utilization, and cost optimization. Drive digitization and automation of the stores function, including implementation of ERP/WMS systems. Operational Responsibilities: Oversee end-to-end store operations including receipt, storage, issuance, return, and disposal of materials. Ensure timely and accurate GRNs, stock entries, binning, and retrieval processes. Coordinate closely with procurement, production, QA/QC, logistics, and finance departments to ensure smooth material flow. Monitor and manage inventory levels, reorder points, safety stocks, and cycle counts. Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to safety norms, fire safety, housekeeping, and hazardous material storage regulations. Comply with statutory and internal audit requirements, including documentation, stock accuracy, and physical verification. Develop SOPs for all store activities and ensure staff adherence. Team Management: Lead a team of store executives, supervisors, and warehouse staff. Provide training and skill development, performance management, and team motivation. Desired Candidate Profile: Education : Graduate in any discipline (Science/Commerce/Engineering preferred) Certification in Inventory Management / SAP / WMS is an added advantage Experience : 1525 years in store and inventory management within a steel plant or heavy engineering industry Hands-on experience in raw material , spares , and finished goods stores Proficient in ERP systems (SAP/MM or similar) and Microsoft Excel Key Skills : Strong analytical and planning abilities Knowledge of steel manufacturing processes and material types Leadership and team management Vendor coordination and negotiation (for scrap/surplus handling) Inventory accuracy and audit readiness Compensation: As per industry standards Working Conditions: Plant-based role, may involve shift or extended hours as per operational need
