Overview

Requirement is for an renowned OEM in Chennai, Looking for Architecture & Packaging experience candidates to work for the advanced vehicle architecture. Responsibilities

Key roles and responsibilities for the Upper body/ Under body Packaging Engineer include:Lead and support thevehicle architecture development process from concept to production, with a focus onupper body and underbody packaging .Develop and maintain3D CAD layouts to assess packaging feasibility of systems and components, ensuring spatial integration across vehicle domains.Collaborate with cross-functional teams includingBody Engineering, Chassis, Powertrain, Electrical, Interiors, Manufacturing, and Safety to resolve conflicts and balance trade-offs.Ensurecompliance with ergonomic, safety, homologation, crash, and NVH requirements while optimizing the use of available space.Define and managehard points, section cuts, and master reference geometry for architectural alignment.Conductbenchmarking and competitive analysis to identify industry best practices and packaging strategies.Participate indesign reviews, DFMEAs, packaging clearance studies , and support virtual and physical build activities.Provide packaging support toadvanced technology integration , such as electrification, ADAS, battery systems, and thermal management.Supportcost and weight optimization initiatives without compromising vehicle functionality or performance.Document and communicate packaging standards and best practices within the organization.QualificationsBachelors degree inMechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field . Masters degree is a plus.5 to 10 years of experience in vehicle architecture and packaging, with a focus on upper body and underbody systems.Strong proficiency in3D CAD tools (CATIA V5/V6, Team Centre).Solid understanding ofvehicle systems , manufacturing processes, and design for assembly.Familiarity withregulatory and crash safety requirements (FMVSS, ECE, GTR, etc.).Experience withdigital mockups (DMU) and working in PLM environments.Excellentproblem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills. Essential skillsExperience inEV or hybrid vehicle architectures .Knowledge ofGD&T, tolerance stack-up, and dimensional engineering .Hands-on experience withvehicle integration, prototype builds, and validation .Exposure toglobal vehicle programs and supplier collaboratio ExperienceMinimum 5 to 10 years of working experience.
