Job Description

As a Mortgage Underwriter QA, you will be responsible for auditing all files underwritten by Onshore Underwriters. Your key responsibilities will include: - Underwriting Conventional, FHA, and VA loans. - Performing a complete and in-depth review of mortgage loan files, including income, assets, credit, and collateral following Fannie Mae selling guidelines and lender overlays. - Demonstrating expertise in self-employment cash-flow and income analysis, including reading business tax returns such as 1120s, 1065, and K1. - Calculating Loan-To-Value/CLTV, Debt-To-Income, and housing ratios. - Evaluating and ensuring overall loan documents are accurate, complete, and compliant with investor guidelines. - Conducting risk analysis, identifying red flags, and noting the file with all required conditions. - Independently managing active files, clearing conditions, and acting as a contact point for Processors and Loan Officers. - Utilizing clients' loan operating system for accurate data entry. - Maintaining current knowledge of client and investor requirements, adapting to updates, and underwriting loans accordingly. - Obtaining approvals from Mortgage Insurers and Investors, forwarding terms based on their requirements, and seeking Second Level Reviews with Risk Managers. - Opening appropriate tasks for Approvals, Denials, Counter offers, and Out of scopes. - Reviewing and approving conditions for compliance and completion of loan files. - Demonstrating thorough knowledge of underwriting, being detail-oriented, and showing excellent research and decision-making ability under deadline pressure to achieve Quality SLA. Qualifications Required: - 3+ years of Mortgage Underwriting experience. - Knowledge of UW Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac Guidelines requirements. - Expertise in income calculation, cash flow analysis, etc. - Proficient in reviewing credit reports, appraisal reports, income documents, title commitments, assets & liability documents. - Maintaining the highest standard of attention to detail. - Good computer/technical knowledge in a paperless environment. - Excellent analytical and communication skills. - Ability to work a rotational schedule encompassing the hours of 8 to 8 in a 40-hour work week, including several days working an 11-8 schedule according to a preset schedule.
