Position Overview
The Training Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering comprehensive training programs across process optimization, manufacturing operations, and quality assurance. This role bridges the gap between operational excellence and workforce capability, ensuring that all employees from shop floor operators to supervisors possess the knowledge and competencies required to excel in their roles. The Training Engineer will leverage modern Learning Management Systems (LMS), instructional design best practices, and hands-on experience in manufacturing environments to create impactful, scalable, and compliant training solutions.
This is a strategic role that combines technical expertise in manufacturing and quality with instructional design capabilities, offering opportunities for professional growth and impact on organizational performance.
Key Responsibilities
Training Program Design & Development
- Design and develop comprehensive training curricular for process operations, manufacturing excellence, quality control, and compliance
- Create role-specific learning paths tailored to different job levels (operators, technicians, supervisors, engineers)
- Develop training materials including manuals, SOPs, video content, infographics, presentations, and digital modules
- Incorporate best practices from aerospace and defence manufacturing standards into training content
- Ensure training programs align with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100, and other relevant quality standards
- Develop skill assessment tools and competency evaluation frameworks
Learning Management System (LMS) Administration
- Manage and administer the company's Learning Management System (LMS)
- Configure role-based learning paths within the LMS for different departments and job functions
- Upload, organize, and maintain training content within the LMS platform
- Track trainee progress, completion rates, and learning outcomes using LMS analytics
- Generate training reports and learning analytics to measure training effectiveness and ROI
- Provide technical support and user guidance to employees accessing the LMS
- Ensure the LMS is regularly updated with new content and remains user-friendly
Onboarding & New Employee Training
- Lead comprehensive onboarding programs for new hires, including induction, safety briefing, and role-specific training
- Conduct orientation sessions covering company policies, culture, safety protocols, and operational procedures
- Customize training for manufacturing and quality roles to accelerate employee capability
- Create mentoring frameworks to support new employees during their initial period
- Monitor onboarding effectiveness and gather feedback for continuous improvement
Quality & Compliance Training
- Deliver training on quality systems, inspection procedures, testing methodologies, and compliance requirements
- Ensure all employees understand their roles in maintaining zero-defect manufacturing practices
- Conduct refresher training on quality standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality policies
- Train employees on the use of quality tools such as SPC (Statistical Process Control), FMEA, root cause analysis, and CAPA processes
- Develop training modules on aerospace and defence standards (SAE AS4373, EN3475, MIL-Spec, etc.)
- Facilitate internal audits and external audit preparation training
Process & Manufacturing Operations Training
- Conduct hands-on training on manufacturing processes, machinery operation, and production best practices
- Develop training content on process optimization, Lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement methodologies
- Train employees on equipment operation, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting
- Create visual job aids and step-by-step process guides for complex manufacturing operations
- Facilitate knowledge transfer from experienced operators and engineers to newer team members
- Support Six Sigma and Lean initiatives with targeted training programs
Training Delivery & Facilitation
- Deliver engaging, interactive training sessions using diverse delivery methods (in-person, virtual, blended learning)
- Conduct small group sessions and one-on-one coaching for hands-on skill development
- Facilitate workshop-style training on process improvements, quality initiatives, and operational changes
- Adapt training delivery to different learning styles and educational backgrounds of learners
- Maintain training schedules and coordinate with operational teams to minimize production disruption
- Provide on-the-job training and mentoring support as needed
Training Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
- Assess the effectiveness of training programs through post-training evaluations (Level 1, 2, 3 evaluations)
- Analyze training data and learner feedback to identify gaps and improvement opportunities
- Measure the impact of training on operational performance, quality metrics, and employee engagement
- Continuously refine and update training content based on changing manufacturing practices and standards
- Document training delivery and maintain comprehensive records for compliance and audit purposes
- Recommend enhancements to training approaches and curriculum
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with operations, quality, and HR teams to identify training needs and Company
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to extract technical knowledge for training content
- Partner with supervisors and team leaders to ensure training aligns with departmental objectives
- Engage with management to understand strategic training priorities and organizational goals
- Support employee development plans and career progression initiatives
- Foster a learning culture that encourages continuous skill development
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering)
- OR Diploma in Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering with additional professional certifications
- OR equivalent qualification with demonstrated expertise in manufacturing and training
Experience
4-6 years of relevant experience
in manufacturing environments with hands-on exposure to operations and processesMinimum 2-3 years of experience in training, L&D, instructional design, or knowledge management
roles- Proven experience in designing and delivering manufacturing-related training programs
- Demonstrated expertise in process optimization, quality assurance, and manufacturing excellence
- Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS) in an operational or administrative capacity
- Exposure to aerospace or defence manufacturing standards and compliance requirements is highly desirable
Technical Skills
Deep understanding of manufacturing processes
