Overview

The E-commerce & Trade Surveillance Analyst is responsible for monitoring digital sales channels, marketplace activity, and trading behaviors to ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical standards. The role involves analyzing transactions, detecting suspicious patterns, preventing fraud, and ensuring platform integrity across e-commerce and trading environments.

Key Responsibilities

E-commerce Surveillance

• Monitor product listings, seller activity, order flows, and customer interactions to identify policy violations, fraud, or suspicious behavior.
  
• Detect and investigate anomalies such as fake listings, counterfeit products, pricing manipulation, payment fraud, and account takeovers.
  
• Collaborate with risk, compliance, legal, and operations teams to enforce marketplace policies and take corrective actions.
  
• Use data tools and dashboards to track KPIs for risk, fraud patterns, and operational efficiency.
  
• Review customer complaints, chargeback trends, and escalation cases to identify systemic issues.
  

Trade Surveillance

• Monitor trading activity across platforms for market abuse indicators such as insider trading, price manipulation, wash trades, spoofing, layering, or unusual order patterns.
  
• Perform daily surveillance reviews using automated monitoring systems and alert-based workflows.
  
• Investigate flagged transactions, gather supporting data, and document findings in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  
• Support regulatory reporting (e.g., suspicious activity reports, audit requests, compliance investigations).
  
• Continuously fine-tune surveillance models based on emerging risks and market trends.
  

Skills & Qualifications

Required

• Bachelors degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  
• Experience in e-commerce operations, fraud detection, trading operations, or surveillance.
  
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets.
  
• Familiarity with SQL, Excel, BI tools (Tableau/Power BI), or trade surveillance platforms.
  
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (e.g., SEBI, SEC, MiFID II) is a plus.
  
• Excellent communication, documentation, and reporting skills.
