Job Description

Role & responsibilities

Design of
fine blanking tools,
including progressive and compound dies.
Create detailed
2D and 3D CAD drawings
(SolidWorks/AutoCAD/Unigraphics/NX/CATIA).
Conduct
feasibility studies
and tooling cost estimation for new components.
Perform
design calculations
such as strip layout, punch force, die clearance, etc.
Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams for tool trial, validation, and improvements.
Incorporate
DFM/DFA principles
in tool design.
Prepare
BOMs, tool manuals, and tool maintenance guidelines
.
Coordinate with suppliers or toolmakers during tool manufacturing.
Provide
technical support
during tool tryouts and production ramp-up.
Troubleshoot tool issues and propose design modifications as required.
Maintain documentation for
tool designs, revisions, and approvals
.

Key Skills Required:

Strong knowledge of
the fine blanking process and tool construction
.
Proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, UG/NX).
Knowledge of
tool steels, heat treatment, and manufacturing processes
.
Ability to read and interpret
engineering drawings and GD&T
.
Understanding of
press tool operations, wear & tear factors, and material flow
.
Familiarity with
FMEA, APQP, and PPAP
documentation is an added advantage.
