The Assistant Chef

The Assistant Chef for Arabic Mediterranean Cuisines plays a crucial supportive role in a professional kitchen specializing in Middle Eastern and Mediterranean dishes. Key responsibilities typically include: Food Preparation & Cooking Assist in preparing, cooking, and presenting a range of Arabic and Mediterranean dishes (e.g., hummus, falafel, kebabs, shawarma, tabbouleh, baba ghanoush). Ensure dishes meet authentic taste, quality, and presentation standards. Follow senior chef’s guidance closely. Menu Assistance Help in menu planning and recipe development under the supervision of the Head or Executive Chef. Contribute creative ideas for specials or seasonal menus. Kitchen Operations Keep workstations clean, sanitized, and organized as per food safety standards. Assist with inventory, receiving, and proper storage of ingredients. Support the team in timely service for a smooth kitchen workflow. Team Collaboration Work effectively with other chefs and kitchen staff. Train and guide junior kitchen staff as directed. Quality & Safety Adhere to hygiene, sanitation, and food safety regulations. Help monitor food waste and portion control. Other Responsibilities Attend briefings and training sessions. Assist in special meal preparations for banquets or events. Perform other duties assigned by senior chefs as needed.
