Job Description

As a Textile Designer, your role includes producing sketches, designs, and samples for presentation to customers. You will be responsible for making up sets of sample designs and liaising with clients, technical, marketing, and buying staff to plan and develop designs. Your key responsibilities will involve accurately interpreting and representing clients" ideas, working out design formulae for a group of samples, and assessing and approving completed items and production standards. It is essential for you to work independently if self-employed or liaise closely with colleagues as part of a small team. Additionally, you will utilize specialist software and computer-aided design (CAD) programs to develop a range of designs, experiment with color, fabric, and texture, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of new design and production techniques and textile technology. Your creativity will be crucial in developing new design concepts and ensuring that projects are completed on time. Qualifications Required: - Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Coral - Bachelor's degree preferred In this role, you will also be responsible for sourcing fabrics and other materials at trade fairs, markets, and antique shops. Attending trade shows as a delegate or exhibitor, representing the company with a display or stand, or appraising the work of competitors will be part of your responsibilities. Keeping up to date with fashion trends in fabric design by reading forecasts in trade magazines and using internet resources is essential. Developing a network of business contacts, managing marketing and public relations, finances, business administration, and maintaining websites if self-employed are also part of the job.
