Job Description

As a Test Engineer (Substation Automation System) at Siemens, your role will involve testing Substation Automation Systems for various voltage levels in India and Abroad. You will play a crucial role in understanding client requirements, project-specific documents, RTU & HMI configuration, testing, and inspection with customers in the factory. Your support to the Project Management, Engineering, and Commissioning teams will ensure the smooth execution of projects. Key Responsibilities: - Configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of Substation Automation products/systems - Understanding client requirements and project-specific documents - Knowledge of different architectures such as RSTP, PRP, and HSR - Hands-on experience in configuring and testing Ethernet Switches, Routers, and Firewalls - Working with various communication types like Ethernet, Fiber optic, Serial RS232/RS485, PLCC, etc. - Experience with Substation Automation and Communication Protocols including SNMP, SNTP, Modbus, IEC60870-5-103, IEC61850, IEC60870-5-101, and IEC60870-5-104 - Reading and understanding Panel drawings/schemes - Preparation of HMI configurations like SLD, System Architecture, Bay Views, Interlock views, etc. - Hands-on experience with RTU system (A8000) & Device Manager configuration and testing - Testing SAS system and integrating with different types of IEDs/Meters/Devices - Experience in Customer FAT & inspection compliance - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Critical thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving abilities - Being a good team player, agile, resilient, and sincere - Enjoy learning new things and building a knowledge base in new areas - Additional knowledge of basics on Electrical Protection System will be preferred - Collaborating for new solutions and technologies required in the business to drive new product and offerings Qualifications Required: - 1-2 years of experience in configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of Substation Automation products/systems - Knowledge of different architectures and communication types - Hands-on experience with Substation Automation and Communication Protocols - Experience with Panel drawings/schemes - Excellent communication skills - Critical thinking and problem-solving skills - Ability to work well in a team and adapt to new challenges - Desire to learn and grow in the field Join Siemens and be part of a diverse and inclusive community dedicated to building the future.
