Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Splicing and Termination

  : The core role involves performing precise fusion or mechanical splicing of fiber optic cables. This includes using a precision cleaver to cut the fiber ends and a fusion splicer to melt them together using an electric arc, creating a permanent, low-loss connection.

• Testing and Troubleshooting:

  They use specialized equipment, including Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDRs), power meters, light sources, and visual fault locators, to test signal strength, locate faults, and diagnose network issues.

• Maintenance and Repair:

  Duties include conducting regular, planned maintenance routines and responding to emergency service calls to repair or replace damaged or faulty cables promptly, minimizing network downtime.

• Working hour and place of posting:

  To work at factory or any construction site as per requirement of company. Candidate should have mind set to work 24x7 basis when there is any fault occurred in optical fibre network even at night time also. Candidate is to work in their jurisdiction as decided by management. But, as per requirement of company he should have to work pan India basis.

• Documentation and Compliance:

  Splicers maintain accurate records, schematics, and detailed documentation of all installation and maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with safety standards and industry best practices.

• Safety Adherence:

  They must follow strict occupational safety standards, as the job can be physically demanding and involves working outdoors in various weather conditions or in confined spaces. 

Required Skills and Qualifications:-

• Technical Proficiency:

  Expertise in using fiber optic tools and test equipment (fusion splicers, OTDRs, etc.) is essential.

• Attention to Detail:

  The process requires meticulous precision; even minor misalignments can significantly affect signal quality.

• Problem-Solving Abilities:

  Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills are needed to identify and resolve fibre optic related issues efficiently.

• Physical Stamina:

  The role may require lifting and carrying equipment, climbing ladders, and working in field conditions.

• Education and Experience:

  A high school diploma or equivalent, specialized training in fiber optics cable jointing technology. Certifications from any ITI, or from any reputed private instates.

• Communication:

  The ability to coordinate work effectively with team members, customers, and management is necessary.
