Technical officer - Instrumentation

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Repairing, calibration and regular maintenance of refrigerators, freezers, centrifuges, incubators, autoclave, minor bench top equipment (pH meter, rockers, shakers, heat blocks, waterbath).

2. Proactive in resolving technical issues related to minor and major equipment breakdown.

3. Capable of either working with existing fabrication workshop or actively contribute to initiate set-up of an in-house workshop for minor repairs and fabrications.

4. Organizing training sessions with new users and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

5. Supervising instruments in common instrumentation facilities.

6. Enthusiastic in finding cost-effective and economical solutions related to instrument requirement and repair.

7. Coordination between vendors, scientific faculty, service provider, and maintenance team.

8. Preparing specifications and technical evaluation for procurement of new instruments.

9. Maintenance and repair of washers and autoclaves and other instrumentation at CITRes.

10. Effectively work with third party vendors to quickly repair instruments in a cost-effective manner.

10. Any other assignment given by the HoD/Dean.

Essential Qualification:

Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (B.Tech.), with minimum of 8 years’ experience as an Instrumentation engineer/technical officer in modern biology laboratory setup.

Desired Qualification

Relevant experience in a reputable institution/company and good technical skills in his/her discipline.
