Technical Artist R&D

As a Technical Artist in R&D at Flam, you will be responsible for pushing visual boundaries in Mixed Reality by experimenting, custom rendering, and exploring procedural creativity. Your key responsibilities will include: - Prototyping new visuals, effects, and rendering methods for MR - Writing custom shaders using GLSL, HLSL, OSL, Shader Graph, etc. - Scripting and automating workflows in Blender, Maya, Houdini, or similar DCCs - Applying a deep understanding of 2D/3D rendering concepts such as lighting, materials, and post-effects - Collaborating with developers and designers to bring ideas to life across MR devices - Exploring the visual language of MR to invent new aesthetics and interaction paradigms To qualify for this role, you should have: - 2+ years as a Technical Artist, Shader Artist, or Visual R&D Specialist - Strong grasp of real-time and offline rendering fundamentals - Proficiency in scripting inside Blender (Python), Maya (MEL/Python), Houdini (VEX/HScript), or similar - Ability to write and debug custom shaders - A creative technologist mindset - experimental, curious, and cross-disciplinary - Deep interest in Mixed Reality, spatial design, or immersive visuals At Flam, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects at the frontier of MR, collaborate with a world-class, creatively fearless team, access the latest devices, rendering tech, and spatial tools, and have the freedom to experiment, fail fast, and innovate.
