Jhamtse Gatsal Children’s Community provides a nurturing home and quality education to children who are first-generation learners. Located in the picturesque and remote foothills of the Himalayas in the Tawang District of Arunachal Pradesh, the Community embodies the principles of love, compassion, and mindfulness. Serving over 100 children from PreK through 12th grade, as well as college students, Jhamtse Gatsal integrates holistic education to support the heart, mind, and body. The Community emphasizes sustainability through organic farming and solar energy use. The Emmy-winning documentary “Tashi and the Monk” highlights the inspiring mission and daily life of the Community.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Teacher, based in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, within the Jhamtse Gatsal Children’s Community. As a Teacher, you will be responsible for creating lesson plans, teaching and engaging students across various subjects, supporting their academic and personal growth, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. The role also involves contributing to the integrated educational approach of the Community and participating in training sessions to enhance teaching methodologies.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Lesson Planning and curriculum development
• Strong Teaching and Education skills to effectively deliver content and adapt to diverse learning needs
• Excellent Communication skills to connect with students, colleagues, and community members
• Experience or interest in Training to develop innovative teaching strategies
• Ability to live and work in a remote community setting
• Passion for holistic education and nurturing children’s growth in the heart, mind, and body
• A Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Education or related field is preferred
• Experience working with children or in a residential educational environment is a plus
