Job Description

As a Tax Compliance Specialist, your primary responsibilities will include preparing, reviewing, and filing multi-jurisdictional sales/use, business and occupation, and gross receipts tax returns on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual basis. You will manage a select group of customers as their main point of contact, ensuring efficient communication and resolution of jurisdictional notices. Your role will involve onboarding and validating new sales/use tax return customers and identifying opportunities to enhance automation for improved customer service. In this role, you will collaborate with customers, jurisdictions, and internal teams to conduct research, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with tax regulations. You will also be responsible for quality assurance related to sales and use tax content and form changes, managing your workload effectively to meet deadlines, and identifying process and technology improvements to enhance customer service. To be successful in this position, you will need to demonstrate strong technical expertise and understanding of sales and use tax processes. You should have experience working with clients, managing notices, and exemption certificates, as well as interacting with state authorities and jurisdictions. Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with excellent written and verbal communication abilities. This role requires a minimum of 8+ years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree or 6 years with a Master's degree. You must be able to work independently while also functioning as a team player, prioritize tasks effectively to meet filing deadlines, and adapt to various software applications and tools. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is necessary, including functions like power pivot, vlookup, and hlookup. In addition, you should be aligned with US business hours and be available during standard US business hours (6.00 pm to 3.00 am) for seamless collaboration with the team and clients. Occasional US travel (2-3 times annually) may be required, so the ideal candidate should hold a valid US visa and be open to traveling for key meetings, events, or conferences. Preferred qualifications for this role include an advanced degree in accounting or finance, experience with a Big 4 firm or large corporate tax department, and attendance at tax conferences.
