About the Role
We are looking for a AMR Deployment Engineer. The engineer is responsible for deploying, configuring, integrating, validating, and commissioning mobile robots (AMRs/AGVs) in a customer facility. They bridge the gap between the robot system (hardware + software) and the operational environment, ensuring reliable, safe, and efficient operation.
This role would require travelling upto 90% of time.
Key Responsibilities
Site Assessment & Preparation
- Survey facility layout, floor conditions, robot path patterns and complications, and infrastructure.
- Identify environmental constraints such as space requirements, movement blockers etc
- Recommend and help implement necessary site modifications (markings, safety zones, access point configuration).
Deployment & Integration
- Install and configure Autonomous Mobile Robots at customer sites.
- Calibrate and optimize navigation/control.
- Perform tests to ensure safety and performance.
- Setup wireless network and test communication between Robots in the environment
- Configure networking, localization anchors/markers, AMR Maps and Operations
**Testing, Validation & Commissioning**
- Develop and execute deployment test plans: functional, performance, safety, edge-case scenarios, payload handling & safety stops
- Tune navigation and control parameters for the specific environment
- Validate end-to-end workflows (e.g., order pick transport drop) and failover/recovery behaviors.
- Perform safety validation (emergency stop, zone enforcement, human-robot interaction limits).
*Training & Handover**
- Train operators/maintenance staff on daily operation, basic troubleshooting, and safety procedures.
- Produce and deliver deployment documentation: site-specific configuration, SOPs, failure modes, recovery steps.
Support & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor initial deployments for anomalies, collect metrics (uptime, navigation success rate, intervention frequency).
- Feed back insights to engineering/R&D for reliability improvements.
- Perform root-cause analysis on field issues and implement corrective actions.
Required Skills & Experience
- Hands-on experience with mobile robots / AMRs, preferably in deployment or integration roles.
- Familiarity with ROS1
- Understanding of Navigation/localization (SLAM, costmaps, sensor fusion).
- Basic networking (IP, subnets, Wi-Fi reliability, VPNs) and system integration (MQTT, OPC-UA, etc.).
- Experience with sensors commonly used on AMRs: LiDAR, cameras, IMUs, encoders.
- Linux proficiency (shell, scripting, diagnostics).
- Ability to read and validate electrical/mechanical interfaces (e.g., verifying power, encoder signals, communication buses like CAN/Ethernet).
- Strong troubleshooting methodology (logs, metrics, repeatable reproduction of issues).
- Good communication skills for cross-functional coordination and customer-facing work.
Nice-to-Have
- Exposure to PLC, Ladder Diagram configurations (Siemens / Mitshibushi) .
- Exposure to Safety Sensor Configuration and Safety Standards (SICK Sensors).
- Experience with warehouse/facility automation systems (WMS, conveyor control).
- Basic programming (Python/C++) for small integration tweaks or diagnostics scripts.
- Cloud/fleet management dashboards familiarity.
- Data collection and simple analytics (uptime, mean time between interventions).
