The role of a Supply Planner in a company, such as JD (Jingdong), typically involves managing the supply chain operations to ensure the availability of products and materials to meet customer demand Here's an overview of the responsibilities and tasks commonly associated with the role of a Supply Planner:Demand Forecasting: Collaborating with various stakeholders, including sales, marketing, and operations, to analyze historical data, market trends, and customer insights to generate accurate demand forecasts This information helps in planning inventory levels and production schedules Inventory Management: Optimizing inventory levels by considering factors such as lead times, demand variability, production constraints, and storage costs The Supply Planner determines the appropriate stock levels to avoid stockouts or excess inventory while minimizing holding costs Production Planning: Coordinating with production teams and suppliers to plan and schedule production activities based on demand forecasts This involves considering capacity constraints, production lead times, and resource availability to ensure the timely delivery of goods Supplier Management: Collaborating with suppliers to ensure timely and accurate delivery of raw materials and components Supply Planners establish relationships with suppliers, monitor their performance, negotiate contracts, and manage any supply-related issues or disruptions Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating risks in the supply chain, such as supply disruptions, transportation delays, or quality issues Supply Planners develop contingency plans, monitor market conditions, and work closely with cross-functional teams to address any potential risks that may impact the supply chain Data Analysis and Reporting: Utilizing supply chain software and tools to analyze data, generate reports, and provide insights on key performance indicators (KPIs) Supply Planners monitor metrics like fill rate, on-time delivery, inventory turnover, and forecast accuracy to identify areas for improvement and drive operational efficiency Continuous Improvement: Actively participating in process improvement initiatives to enhance supply chain performance Supply Planners collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement strategies for improving efficiency, reducing costs, and enhancing customer satisfaction Collaboration and Communication: Working closely with internal teams, such as sales, operations, logistics, and finance, to ensure alignment and effective communication Supply Planners facilitate cross-functional meetings, share information, and coordinate efforts to meet customer demands and business objectives
