Job Description

Department:

Key Responsibilities

1. Procurement & Vendor Management

  • Source raw materials, machined parts, fasteners, tools, and consumables based on production needs.
  • Evaluate and negotiate with suppliers for price, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Maintain the supplier database and develop alternate/backup suppliers for critical components.
  • Track supplier OTIF (On-Time In-Full) and drive continuous performance improvement.

2. Inventory & Material Management

  • Monitor stock levels of raw materials.
  • Implement and maintain inventory control systems (FIFO, safety stock, min/max levels).
  • Coordinate with stores and production to avoid stock-outs or excess inventory.
  • Conduct regular physical stock audits and reconcile discrepancies.

4. Logistics & Dispatch

  • Plan inbound logistics for raw materials and outbound logistics for finished goods.
  • Arrange transportation, prepare dispatch documents, and track shipments.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements (GST, E-way bills, packing lists, etc.).
  • Optimize freight costs and turnaround time.

5. Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Liaise with production, purchase, quality, and finance teams.
  • Support new product development (NPD) material planning and procurement.
  • Escalate critical issues such as delays, shortages, or quality deviations.

6. Data Management & Reporting

  • Manage ERP transactions (PO creation, GRN, material issues, and production orders).
  • Prepare MIS reports: inventory status, supplier performance, material consumption, plan adherence, etc.
  • Use data analytics to drive cost savings and process improvement.

Qualifications & Skills

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, or supply chain.

Experience

  • 25 years of experience in supply chain/purchase/planning in a mechanical component or engineering manufacturing industry.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of BOM, routings, and production processes.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems.
  • Good Excel and analytical skills.

Soft Skills

  • Negotiation and communication skills.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Team coordination and time management.
