Job Description

The Kitchen Steward is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and food preparation areas, ensuring a hygienic, safe, and efficient working environment. In a luxury hotel setting, the role requires strict adherence to five-star hygiene standards and a high level of attention to detail in supporting the culinary team. Key Responsibilities: Sanitation & Cleaning: Clean and sanitize all kitchen utensils, cooking equipment, dishes, pots, pans, and work surfaces. Operate dishwashing machines and handle cleaning agents safely and efficiently. Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the dishwashing area and back-of-house zones at all times. Clean floors, walls, ceilings, coolers, and storage areas following standard sanitation procedures. Support to Culinary Operations: Assist chefs by ensuring all equipment and utensils are ready and clean before, during, and after service. Organize and store equipment properly to avoid damage or accidents. Transport clean dishes, equipment, and ingredients as needed. Waste Management: Properly separate and dispose of garbage and recyclables according to hotel procedures. Ensure bins are emptied and cleaned regularly. Report maintenance or pest issues immediately to the Stewarding Supervisor. Compliance & Safety: Follow HACCP guidelines and all food safety regulations. Use cleaning chemicals as per Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and training guidelines. Wear correct personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times. Attend regular health and safety training sessions.
