Job Description

As a Procurement Head the role involves overseeing the sourcing, purchasing, and management of steel, zinc and polymer raw materials required for the company's operations, projects, and manufacturing processes. Job Purpose: To strategically manage the procurement of raw materials, ensuring timely availability, quality assurance, cost-effectiveness, and supplier relationship management to support Skipper Limiteds production and project requirements. Key Responsibilities: 1. Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers of raw materials based on quality, reliability, cost, and delivery capabilities. Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers, including pricing, payment terms, lead times, and contractual agreements. 2. Procurement Planning and Execution: Develop and implement procurement strategies and plans for raw materials in alignment with production schedules, project requirements, and inventory targets. Generate purchase orders, monitor order fulfilment, and ensure timely delivery of raw materials to meet operational and project timelines. 3. Cost Management: Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and economic factors to optimize procurement costs and mitigate price risks. Implement cost-saving initiatives, negotiate volume discounts, and manage supplier contracts to achieve cost-effective procurement outcomes. 4. Quality Assurance and Compliance: Collaborate with quality assurance teams to establish and enforce quality standards, specifications, and inspection criteria for raw materials. Conduct supplier audits, quality inspections, and performance evaluations to ensure adherence to agreed-upon quality standards and regulatory requirements. 5. Inventory Control and Supply Chain Optimization: Manage raw material inventory levels, monitor consumption patterns, and implement inventory control measures to minimize stockouts and excess inventory. Work closely with logistics and warehouse teams to optimize supply chain logistics, transportation, and warehousing of raw materials. 6. Risk Management: Identify and assess risks related to supply chain disruptions, supplier reliability, geopolitical factors, and market conditions affecting raw material procurement. Develop risk mitigation strategies, contingency plans, and alternative sourcing options to ensure continuity of raw material supply. 7. Stakeholder Communication and Relationship Management: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including production managers, project managers, and engineering teams, to align procurement activities with organizational goals and project requirements. Foster positive relationships with suppliers, resolve issues promptly, and maintain open communication channels to address concerns and optimize supplier performance. Qualifications and Skills: Post Graduation degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Advanced Degree or certifications may be advantageous. Proven experience in procurement and supply chain management, specifically in sourcing and purchasing raw materials within the manufacturing or construction industry. Strong knowledge of raw material grades, specifications, market dynamics, and global supply chain trends affecting the industry. Proficiency in procurement processes, contract negotiation, supplier evaluation, and supplier relationship management. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Effective communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders, build relationships, and resolve conflicts diplomatically. Proficiency in ERP systems, SAP, procurement software, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Personal Attributes: Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze data, forecast trends, and develop proactive procurement strategies. Results-oriented with a focus on achieving procurement objectives, cost savings, and operational efficiency.
