What role you will play in our team
Support static engineering activities for Pressure Vessels & Heat Exchanger, including Operating Asset support and Project Engineering surveillance in Bangalore, KA.
What you will do
- Supports static equipment engineering needs across ExxonMobil projects and/or producing/manufacturing operations organization.
- Stewardship of engineering support center service quality, effectiveness, and efficiency.
- Technical leadership (formal or informal) in projects and/or producing/manufacturing operations. Applying broad technical and business skills and expertise to solve more complex problems.
- Conducts detailed technical evaluations to address issues with equipment and system design, operation and maintenance.
- Provides pertinent engineering expertise to Root Cause Failure Analysis.
- Reviews project and contractor deliverables as requested to ensure compliance with project specifications, Design Practices, Static Equipment Toolkit guidance, and best practices. Documents to be reviewed may include Piping & Instrument Diagrams, equipment arrangements, equipment specifications, data sheets, vendor proposals, and technical studies.
- Participates in design reviews, risk assessments, HAZOPs, vendor qualification, and vendor bid evaluations as requested.
- Coordination of communication between India based technical support contractors and ExxonMobil projects and/or producing/manufacturing operations including coordination of teleconferences and management of communication and reporting tools.
- Uses breadth of technical discipline experience to Coordinate/Collaborate across all technical disciplines, as well as Site Operations to develop pragmatic, general interest solutions
- Supports functional initiatives and maintains discipline documentation pertinent to Upstream and Downstream Facilities.
- Provides technical mentorship to early-career professionals, with emphasis in areas of identified skill gaps. Utilizes depth and/or breadth of experience to identify cross-functional business opportunities. Participates in internal networks through which their capabilities can be disseminated to the benefit of others.
- Proactively and continuously grows disciplines technical expertise in pertinent technologies.
- Maintains current knowledge (e.g. through participation in industry conferences / forums).
About You
Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience with operating pressure vessels and Heat Exchanger including equipment selection, sizing, design, installation, preservation, commissioning, start-up, operation, surveillance, maintenance, troubleshooting, upgrading, and decommissioning
- Should have a Bachelor of Engineering degree and score 70% and above (equivalent CGPA) from recognized university
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in oil & gas, refining, petrochemical, LNG, or related industries
- Minimum 5 years of experience in responsible roles in static equipment engineering operation or design, and coordination of surveillance / inspection activities for projects in the Oil and Gas Industry.
- Broad and extensive knowledge of: Industry design standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria. These include ASME Code Section VIII, Divisions 1 and 2, API 660, 661, 662, 620, 650 and 653, TEMA, ALPEMA, NBIC
- Mechanical properties and degradation mechanisms for common materials of construction used in Upstream equipment such as carbon steel, low chrome and nickel alloy steels, austenitic stainless steel, duplex and super duplex stainless steels, and nickel-based alloys such as Inconel.
- Vessel and heat exchanger analysis programs such as PV Elite and HTRI
- Demonstrated ability to interface with engineering disciplines, such as Process, Rotating Equipment, Materials, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and support client needs.
- Onshore and offshore facilities design; along with direct experience working onsite in oil & gas facilities.
- Participated in Layout Model Reviews, HAZIDs, design reviews, risk assessments, HAZOPs, vendor qualification, and vendor bid evaluations as requested. Experience in coordinating & leading these reviews.
- Tangible breadth of experience in multiple technical disciplines, in addition to depth of knowledge in Mechanical/Static Equipment.
- Worked as Lead Engineer on Capital Projects will be preferred
- Preferred knowledge in API 510, 653, 579 and NBIC
- Thermal rating and sizing of heat exchangers using HTRI
- Degradation mechanisms for common materials of construction used in equipment
- Experience working onsite in oil & gas facilities.
- Understands piping design.
- Multiple prior assignments that provide a variety of exposure to global oil & gas operations.
- Strong organizational, management, and technical judgment skills.
- Good understanding of Project Life cycle and department interfaces.
- Good understanding of Plant Operations priorities
- Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities.
- Strong leadership, influencing, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational, coordination, planning, and interface skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs.
- Willing and able to travel as required, both domestic and international.
- Flexible to work in shifts.
Preferred Qualifications/Experiences
- Experience in shutdown planning and execution activities
- Experience in maintenance and reliability concepts and applications
- General knowledge of oil and gas production operations and facilities (e.g., oil treating, gas processing, compression, measurement, corrosion)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
- Willing and able to travel, as required, for extended periods.
