Sr. Manager - Direct Taxation

Job Purpose

• Manage adherence to direct taxation policies for the organization by coordinating timely payment of taxes and filing of tax returns & ensuring compliance to all statutory requirement and tax laws to support business/operating plans and strategy for future growth and clarify companys perspective on tax litigations
• Responsible for implementing high class, competitive, cost efficient and statutory compliant solutions in Direct Tax functions of the organization

Key Accountabilities

Strategic Activities

• Design and develop direct taxation strategies and policies for the firm ensuring adherence to both internal and external compliance
• Build direct taxation capabilities within the organization through focused developmental initiatives and supporting automation initiatives for processes efficiency in order to achieve high productivity
• Support in conducting strategy discussion with industry players, keeping the Head - Taxation and audit committee apprised of the tax litigations

Domestic Taxation

• Lead teams for Implementation of tax policies, procedures in line with standard principles with current and future regulatory and strategic requirements
• Develop alternate assessments of taxation based on emerging and innovative practice in tax assessment and interpretation, leveraging amendments and changes to the taxation policy
• Support in defining new benchmarks in taxation practice based on emerging regulations and liaising with regulatory authorities to redefine tax liability in favor of the business
• Support in analysis and interpretation of tax provisions/regulations and laws in orderly manner to maximize options available to the business for tax planning
• Manage timely filing and follow ups on lower TDS rate on billings to reduce the cash blockage in tax refunds
• Conduct reconciliation of the book entries made and track their accuracy to ensure filing of quarterly and annual tax returns
• Identify areas of tax risks and work towards pro-active solutions to the same such as advance rulings, clarifications etc. to minimize impact on the organization
• Continuously build knowledge repository for tax laws, and other tax litigations, to meet the key knowledge required
• Ensure compliances of various tax payments, filing of returns from TDS, Corporate tax perspective within the statutory timelines without any exceptions.
• Validation of business agreements from tax perspective and ensure that there are no tax leakages.
• Manage assessments by proactively keeping the info/docs ready and ensure that the assessments are handled effectively
• Effective management of litigations by regular monitoring of the evolving judicial pronouncements and taking necessary steps to close the litigations.
• Monitoring ETR, Deferred tax implications
• Ensuring that statutory/internal/tax audits are handled effectively by providing timely information/schedules to the auditors.

International Taxation

• Manage and monitor the maintenance of records for Taxation related to international operations to ensure foreign tax is reported accurately and timely
• Assist in overseeing the tax compliance process at various international locations to ensure timely and accurate filing of the tax returns
• Review of lease agreements, business agreements with Non-residents from tax perspective, maintenance of tax documents to ensure treaty compliances and ensure that there are no tax leakages
• Timely providing of tax opinions in compliance with domestic/Treaty provisions.

Team Management

• Set the functional goals and objectives and ensure the cascading of the same to the reporting departments and guide their achievement
• Provide direction and advice to the direct reports in performing their delegated responsibilities

Oversee the overall performance of direct reports and ensure KPIs are well communicated and monitored

Qualification :

CA with 6 Yrs of experience in Direct Taxation
