Position:

Senior Technician - Plant Maintenance

Location:

Mumbai

Department:

Engineering / Maintenance

1. Job Overview

The Senior Technician will be responsible for ensuring reliable operation, preventive maintenance, and trouble-free functioning of all plant equipment, utilities, and machinery. This role includes supervision of technicians, quick breakdown resolution, and maintaining high safety & compliance standards.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

Perform preventive and predictive maintenance for all plant machinery (HVAC, pumps, compressors, boilers, electrical panels, motors, DG sets, fabrication units, kitchen/cold room equipment if applicable).

Troubleshoot breakdowns and restore equipment to operational condition with minimal downtime.

Maintain accurate maintenance logs, checklists, and history cards.

B. Mechanical & Electrical Skills

Hands-on experience in:

Mechanical repair (pumps, bearings, shafts, gearboxes).

Electrical maintenance (wiring, MCC/DB panels, contactors, relays, VFDs).

Basic PLC / automation understanding (optional but preferred).

Utility systems: Chillers, AHU, cooling towers, RO/softener, air compressors.

C. Operations Support

Support production/operations team by ensuring equipment uptime.

Quick response to emergency maintenance calls.

Ensure calibration of instruments and proper alignment of critical machinery.

D. Team Supervision

Guide junior technicians and assign daily tasks.

Ensure preventive maintenance schedule is followed.

Support vendor coordination for outsourced service work.

E. Safety & Compliance

Ensure equipment safety, proper lock-out/tag-out, and adherence to SOPs.

Maintain compliance with fire safety, electrical safety, and statutory rules.

Keep housekeeping and maintenance areas clean & organized.

3. Required Qualifications

ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Refrigeration & Air Conditioning.

Minimum 4

-6 years

of plant/industrial maintenance experience.

Strong knowledge of mechanical/electrical troubleshooting.

Ability to read technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and manuals.

4. Key Skills

Breakdown analysis and root-cause finding.

Preventive & predictive maintenance planning.

Knowledge of spare parts management.

Leadership & communication skills.

Basic computer skills (Excel, email, CMMS preferred).

5. Work Conditions

Rotational or general shift based on plant requirement.

On-call duty during emergency breakdowns.

Indoor/outdoor equipment maintenance.
