The Sr Advanced System Engineer serves as the technical leader for all mechanical design needs for the complete engines and power system portfolio of products including proposals, cost estimation, design and development, qualification, service introduction and field issue resolutions
The selected candidate is accountable for technical deliverables of all design tasks, assuring that they are executed, on schedule, on budget, and in compliance with requirements This position reports to the Director Engineering - Engines and Power Systems
Responsibilities include providing technical guidance to all programs, developing and implementing talent strategies, people development, culture, technical leadership coaching, employee engagement and enabling diversity and inclusion
This position will work directly with the E&PS Engineering leadership teams to execute the programs while creating and implementing a transformational burning platform strategy to reduce cycle time and cost, and improve Honeywell s competitiveness in the marketplace
Job Description:
Define system hierarchy of aircraft systems e
g Engine, Auxiliary Power Unit or Mechanical System and their functionality
Lead in preparation of concept of operations, operational specs, functional specs and associated system specifications across E&PS/Mechanical Systems product lines
Lead initiatives in Fuel cells, connected aircraft, electric propulsion technology
Drive cost take out initiative in APU/Engine/Mechanical Systems
Define Measures of Effectiveness & Measures of Performance for the system for future platform offerings/updates on current programs/platforms
Application of formal methods/specifications for requirements analysis
Managing requirements from elicitation, definition/capture, decomposition, allocation, prioritization, tracking, test mapping and derived identification
Utilizing requirements management tools such as DOORS and developing DXL script
Performing system integration and test bench analysis by maintaining broad perspective to manage achievement of technical deliverables
Systems Verification and Validation (V&V)
Performing functional configuration audits
Development of documentation required in support of both technical and training requirements
Lead, plan and coordinate engineering review activities associated with PDR, CDR milestones working with LSE
Compliance of regulatory standards and review and propose changes to them as applicable for Propulsion System
Assuring compliance requirements as defined by IPDS
Basic Qualification:
Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering, Master degree would be advantageous
Minimum of 10 years experience with 5 years Systems Engineering background
Working experience and knowledge of aircraft systems
Good understanding of Systems Development Standards (DO160, ARP 4754, ARP 4761 etc )
Good understanding of Engineering Drawings, component design, Tolerances and PLM tools
Experience in performing system audits to ensure intended system functionality, operation and performance requirements are achieved
Able to work independently and manage teams
Good leadership skill to drive team with global mind set
Good algorithm and programming skills
Familiarity with the system development life cycle
Design for Six Sigma skills desirable
