Job Description

The role is responsible for working closely with management in fulfilling legal and organizational obligations related to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) performance
The position identifies, develops, and delivers appropriate EHS training to promote a safe workplace and ensures compliance with all applicable health and safety requirements
It monitors the potential EHS and regulatory impacts of new processes and process changes, conducting reviews for proposed capital projects
The role oversees mock drills, tracks recordable incidents and lost workdays, conducts root cause analyses, and implements corrective and preventive actions
As co-chair of the Joint Health and Safety Committee, the incumbent leads safety improvement initiatives, prepares meeting minutes, and ensures availability of documentation to employees
The position conducts monthly workplace inspections/audits across manufacturing and office areas, reports findings, and drives corrective actions
Annual audits of the companys safety program are completed, along with updates to manuals and procedures
The role compiles and reports statistical data regarding outcomes, injury frequency, and modified work, and manages OHS orientation and training, including induction for new hires
It maintains CPR and First Aid certifications and ensures renewal for designated first aid attendants
The incumbent supports firefighting and safety training, represents the company during regulatory inspections, and ensures programs and policies remain current with legislation
Must have a Bachelors/Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering with a postgraduate diploma in Industrial Safety* (recognized to be safety officer as required under provisions of the Factories Act, 1948),
strong knowledge of environmental sustainability, 10-12 years relevant experience, and at least five years in manufacturing health and safety
