Job Description

The Special Educator supports students with disabilities by designing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), adapting general education curricula, and fostering a supportive, inclusive learning environment that promotes the academic, social, and emotional growth of students. Key Responsibilities: Assessment and Planning: Conduct assessments to identify students needs, strengths, and challenges. Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each students unique requirements. Collaborate with parents, teachers, therapists, and other stakeholders to set realistic and achievable goals. Instructional Support: Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students diverse needs. Provide one-on-one or small-group instruction in various subjects. Use specialized strategies and tools, including assistive technology, to enhance learning. Behavioral Support: Develop and implement behavior intervention plans to address challenging behaviors. Promote positive behavior and conflict resolution through structured activities and reinforcement techniques. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with general education teachers to integrate special education students into mainstream classrooms where appropriate. Communicate regularly with parents or guardians to provide updates on progress and strategies for home support. Partner with school staff and external professionals to ensure comprehensive care for students. Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on student progress, IEPs, and assessments. Ensure compliance with legal and institutional guidelines related to special education services. Participate in team meetings and professional development sessions. Advocacy and Inclusion: Advocate for students rights and ensure their needs are met within the school environment. Promote an inclusive school culture that respects diversity and fosters empathy among peers.
