Postoperative Responsibilities ICU Management Oversee immediate postoperative care in the cardiac ICU. Assist in ventilator management, sedation, pain control, and inotropic support. Identify and manage complications (e.g., low cardiac output syndrome, bleeding, renal dysfunction). Extubation & Recovery Evaluate readiness for extubation. Ensure smooth transition from mechanical ventilation to spontaneous breathing. 4. Academic, Administrative & Team-Based Roles Training & Teaching Train junior anaesthesiologists, residents, and ICU staff in cardiac anesthesia techniques. Documentation Maintain detailed anesthesia records and contribute to surgical audit meetings. Multidisciplinary Collaboration Coordinate closely with surgeons, perfusionists, intensivists, and nurses to optimize patient outcomes. Research & Development Participate in clinical research, QI programs, and stay updated with advancements in cardiac anesthesia.
