Prepare anaesthesia medications, syringes, IV fluids, airway devices (ET tubes, LMAs), and emergency drugs. Assisting in Patient Preparation Help in positioning the patient correctly for induction. Attach standard monitoring devices (ECG, NIBP, pulse oximeter, temperature probe). Assist in IV line placement, oxygen administration, and other preparatory tasks. 2. Intraoperative Responsibilities Technical Assistance During Surgery Support the anaesthesiologist in maintaining patient monitoring and anaesthesia delivery. Adjust and monitor anaesthesia machines and ensure gas flow rates are appropriate. Prepare and provide necessary instruments (e.g., intubation kit, laryngoscope, suction). Monitoring & Recording Observe and report vital signs and any equipment alarms or malfunctions. Maintain accurate records of administered drugs, fluids, and timings. Emergency Support Respond promptly to anaesthetic emergencies (e.g., supply crash cart, assist in CPR). Replace used or malfunctioning equipment immediately. 3. Postoperative Responsibilities Recovery & Clean-up Assist in safe transfer of patients to the recovery room (PACU). Help monitor patients in the recovery phase as needed. Disinfect and reset anaesthesia machines and equipment for the next case. 4. Maintenance & Stock Management Equipment Maintenance Perform daily checks of anaesthesia machines and related tools. Ensure timely servicing and calibration of equipment. Inventory Management Maintain adequate stock of drugs, gases, consumables, and disposables. Ensure safe storage and expiry-date monitoring of medications and materials. 5. Teamwork & Documentation Communication Coordinate effectively with anaesthesiologists, surgeons, nurses, and biomedical staff. Record-Keeping Maintain checklists, logbooks, and quality control records. Report equipment faults or incidents to supervisors.
