Solution Architect

Role Overview: As a Solution Architect for Solution Engineering (Java) at Western Union's new Digital Banking hub in Madrid, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the Digital Banking customer experience by leading the Integrations Engineering team. Your responsibilities will include developing microservices using Java Spring Boot framework, mentoring junior Engineers, and collaborating with geographically distributed development centers to establish core digital banking and wallet solutions globally. Key Responsibilities: - Develop microservices using Java Spring Boot framework and enhance APIs on middleware platforms for the assigned region - Assess business needs and provide creative solutions in alignment with emerging technology standards - Plan, delegate, and make efficient decisions to ensure successful execution - Collaborate with other engineers and emphasize on customer journey, product quality, performance tuning, troubleshooting, and continuous development - Conduct thorough code reviews, estimate engineering effort, and roll out applications with cross-functional and cross-regional impacts - Champion a culture of excellence within the team and across the company Qualifications Required: - 7+ years hands-on experience building applications using Java, Spring Boot framework, Cassandra DB, Multithreading, serialization, Externalization, Collections, etc. - Ability to lead technology projects and mentor junior associates - Experience in Core Banking systems and integrations is a plus - Proficiency in J2EE technologies, JDBC, ORM, JAXB, DevOps tools, Kafka, APIs, REST/JSON, Microservices, XML, XSLT, etc - Strong track record of writing high-quality, efficient code for new microservices and leveraging open-source technologies effectively - Familiarity with agile development methodologies like Test Driven Development (TDD) and CI/CD - Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to manage talent effectively - Strong technical skills in architecture patterns, solutions design, and development, with a deep understanding of computer science fundamentals Tech Stack and Tools: - REST APIs and Microservices using Java, Springboot, Cassandra DB - Kafka event streaming, Mambu Cloud Banking platform, Mambu Process Orchestrator - Marqeta for Card Issuing & processing, React Native - GitLab, JIRA, Cloudbees, OpenSearch, Swaggerhub, Snowflake, Talend, AWS Cloud, Spinnaker, CI/CD Note: The job posting is estimated to end on 10-29-2025.,
