Key responsibilities
1. Architecture Ownership & Design Leadership
- Define and govern the
end-to-end architecture
for payment systems, ensuring scalability, resilience, and compliance with global standards. - Architect solutions that enable
real-time processing, ISO 20022 migration, SWIFT gpi enablement
, and modernization of legacy payment hubs. - Lead design of
microservices-based, event-driven architectures
, with strong focus on API-first, cloud-native, and containerized
deployment models. - Evaluate and recommend appropriate
messaging, integration, and database technologies
for high-volume transaction systems. - Create
architecture blueprints, design documents, and integration patterns
, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards.
2. Technical Governance & Stakeholder Alignment
- Work closely with
Payments Product Owners, Transformation Leads, and Technology Heads
to align architecture with business roadmaps. - Provide technical leadership across multiple development streams and ensure adherence to design principles and best practices.
- Define
non-functional requirements (NFRs)
for performance, security, scalability, observability, and regulatory compliance. - Support
solution design reviews
, impact assessments, and technical due diligence for new product initiatives or vendor onboarding.
3. Payments Domain Expertise
- Bring deep understanding of
global payment schemes
(SWIFT, SEPA, RTP, FedNow, ACH, UPI) and cross-border transaction processing
. - Lead design of
message transformation frameworks (MT-MX)
, ISO 20022 schema validation
, and rule-based orchestration engines
. - Oversee integration with
AML, sanctions screening, liquidity, and reconciliation
systems for end-to-end transaction integrity. - Ensure solutions are compliant with
PSD2, CBPR+, UETR
, and other emerging industry and regulatory standards.
4. Emerging Technology & Platform Strategy
- Define the roadmap for
payments platform modernization
, leveraging API gateways, event streaming (Kafka), and cloud-native solutions
. - Evaluate
vendor products and accelerators
(e.g., VolPay, Finastra, FIS, Temenos, Murex Payments) for alignment with CRISIL and client strategy. - Promote
DevSecOps, observability, and automation-first principles
across payment delivery pipelines. - Advise on
performance tuning, fault tolerance, and scalability
for high-throughput transaction platforms.

payment system integration
with SWIFT, SEPA, RTP, FedNow, and other real-time clearing systems. - Deep understanding of
ISO 20022, SWIFT MT/MX standards
, and message translation/orchestration frameworks
. - Proven experience architecting
cloud-native, API-first, and containerized solutions (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
. - Knowledge of
streaming platforms (Kafka), caching systems (Redis), and distributed databases
. - Strong focus on
security architecture
, including OAuth2/JWT, encryption, key management
, and regulatory compliance. - Experience working in
Agile environments
