Job Description

We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled SolidWorks Design Engineer with 2–5 years of experience in the construction or fabrication industry. This role involves creating detailed 3D models and shop drawings for construction components such as structural steel, cladding systems, modular units, or architectural metalwork.

The ideal candidate will work closely with project teams to ensure that designs are accurate, buildable, and aligned with project timelines and site conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed 3D models and 2D fabrication/shop drawings using SolidWorks, based on architectural/structural drawings and site requirements.
  • Prepare BOMs and manufacturing documentation to support fabrication and assembly.
  • Modify and optimize designs to improve manufacturability and ease of installation.
  • Collaborate with project managers, fabricators, and site engineers to ensure constructability.
  • Incorporate feedback from fabrication teams and site conditions into updated designs.
  • Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Maintain drawing standards, revisions, and file management using PDM tools.
  • Conduct basic tolerance and fit checks to ensure design accuracy.

Required Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of professional experience in SolidWorks design within the construction, steel fabrication, or modular building industry.
  • Proficient in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and 2D drafting.
  • Good understanding of construction materials (steel, aluminum, glass, etc.) and processes like welding, cutting, and assembly.
  • Knowledge of building codes, tolerances, and construction best practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under project deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with sheet metal, structural steel, or architectural components.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, or Tekla Structures is a plus.
  • Experience using SolidWorks PDM or similar version control systems.
  • Certification in SolidWorks (e.g., CSWA or CSWP).
  • Ability to read and interpret civil/architectural drawings and integrate designs accordingly.
