Job Summary

Software Quality Engineer monitors every phase of the development process to ensure that modified software adheres to functional requirements, technical designs, and LKQ IT standards. SQE work products ensure usability and reduce software development delays caused by releases not meeting target dates and exceeding budget. The software quality assurance engineer helps meet deadlines by breaking up the development process into attainable testing goals and relaying any issues back to the development and product teams or leaders. The SQE will work on a team of other SQEs to validate final products written in with LKQ secure coding guidelines, North America regulatory requirements for consumer facing technology assets, and LKQ Global Security Policies. Must be able to work with NA IT standardized toolsets. All work will be allocated, assigned, documented, and vetted through standardized toolsets and processes leveraged by North America Application Development, including Jira and Confluence. Must be able to participate in user story grooming or technical grooming sessions as relevant. Individuals will work with the IT Delivery Management function for delivering work assignments and will functionally report to NA IT Quality Assurance Management for understanding work assignments, coaching, and other technical requirements of the role.

Essential Job Duties

• Document test cases
• Perform and document risk analyses
• Record test progress and results
• Identify automated testing opportunities
• Work with automation team to deliver automated tests
• Create test plans
• Ensure standards and procedures to determine product quality and release readiness
• Discover bugs within software
• Drive innovation and streamline overall testing processes
• Identify, isolate, and track bugs throughout testing
• Identify any potential problems that users might encounter
• Perform manual and automated testing
• Research and analyze product features being tested
• Review user interfaces for consistency and functionality

Basic Qualifications Education and Experience:

• Bachelors degree in computer science, Computer Engineering or other related fields.

Mid-and-senior level testers will have 5 to 8 years of work experience.

• Experience creating test cases and test packages

• Experience testing RESTful APIs

• Working knowledge of relational databases, No SQL databases and caching systems

• Professional communication skills and the ability to communicate well in multiple formats with colleagues around the globe

• (MS Teams meetings, through email, verbally by phone, through MS Teams messaging, and via leveraging Confluence).
