Software Integration and Release Engineer

We are looking for a skilled Release Manager and preferably a combination of skills of Release Manager and Software Integration Engineer with a clear understanding of the software development lifecycle and release management processes. Seasoned in software testing or understanding of basic concepts of software testing. In this role, you will be a part of a distributed team on one of our automotive projects, where you may plan and coordinate software integrations and releases, manage integration tools and version control, and maintain release documentation and change records. You will be a driver of process improvements in integration and release workflows.

• Release applications as per requirements and schedules following the established process and practices
• Update and maintain release documentation, including release notes, installation guides, and configuration instructions. Ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation for each release
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define release strategies, schedules, and milestones. Assess the impact of new features or enhancements on the release process and coordinate necessary adjustments
• Coordinate release activities across teams, ensuring that all necessary steps are executed in a structured and controlled manner. Manage release branches, versioning, and code merges to maintain code integrity
• Collaborate with quality assurance teams to establish effective release testing strategies. Execute release-specific tests, verify deployments, and coordinate rollback plans in case of issues
• Manage software configurations, including version control, branching strategies, and release artifacts. Ensure that proper configuration management practices are followed to maintain traceability and reproducibility
• Propose opportunities for process improvement and automation to enhance the release process efficiency, quality, and reliability. Propose and implement solutions to streamline workflows and reduce time-to-release.
• Participate in incident and change management processes. Coordinate with support teams to investigate and resolve release-related incidents or problems
• Oversee the management and provisioning of development, testing, staging, and production environments. Coordinate with infrastructure teams to ensure environment availability, compatibility, and consistency.
• Contribute to Continuous Integration system for release-related activities
• Manage and optimize build systems in conjunction with DevOps Engineers for better efficiency

Required skills:

• 3+ years of experience in the software engineering industry
• 2+ years of experience as a DevOps or Release Engineer
• Good knowledge of software development lifecycle and release management processes.
• Good understanding of software testing or understanding of basic concepts of software testing
• Strong experience with deployment automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, Ansible, Docker) and version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Experience with configuration management practices and tools.
• Understanding of agile development methodologies and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) principles.
• Solid understanding of different operating systems and platforms.
• Attentiveness to details
• Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work efficiently keeping to the strict schedule and quality requirements

Will be a plus:

• Knowledge of Atlassian stack (JIRA/Confluence), ServiceNow.
• Experience in Software Release Management, Configuration Management
• Experience in Quality Assurance
