Build And Release Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Own and manage

  end-to-end Android release processes

  , including build generation, packaging, signing, tagging, versioning, and OTA readiness.
• Coordinate with platform, HAL, and app teams to integrate and validate code changes before every release cycle.
• Manage and maintain

  Android build systems

  (AOSP-based), CI/CD pipelines, and build infrastructure.
• Automate daily/weekly builds, regression runs, sanity validations, and changelog generation.
• Own OTA (Over-The-Air) packaging and ensure compatibility with boot loader/recovery and A/B partitioning schemes.
• Validate releases against defined quality gates, including integration sanity, basic smoke testing, and rollback scenarios.
• Work with QA and product teams to track defects, logs, and regression between releases.
• Optimize and document the

  release process

  , ensuring reproducibility and minimal manual intervention.
• Support

  debugging and root cause analysis

  in case of release failures or system instability after updates.
• Ensure compliance with versioning standards, security signing, and release policy across internal and external deliveries.

Maintain internal documentation for release processes, environment setup, and artifact management

Preferred candidate profile

• Should have experience in Android software release engineering, build automation, or platform engineering.
• Strong hands-on experience with

  AOSP build system (Soong/Make), lunch/bit-bake

  , and Android build environment setup.
• Experience with

  Qualcomm-based Android platforms

  .
• Familiarity with

  OTA mechanisms

  (A/B, recovery, delta update tools, or custom OTA implementations).
• Experience working with

  version control systems (Git/Gerrit)

  , CI tools (Jenkins/GitLab CI), and artifact storage systems.
• Scripting expertise in

  Python, Bash

  , or other automation languages for tooling and orchestration.
• Working knowledge of

  device bring-up

  , boot loader, fast boot, recovery image, and Android Verified Boot (AVB).
• Exposure to

  telematics modules and vehicle-grade Android
