Software Applications Engineer

As a talented full stack web engineer at the IT DMC Development & Delivery Team, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the development capabilities. You will be responsible for the development, integration, maintenance, support, and delivery of productivity applications that empower Red Hatters in their day-to-day work. The custom applications primarily run on Openshift and are built with Java (Spring Boot 2) backends and Javascript UIs (Angular, Typescript, jQuery). Additionally, Python and Bash scripting are also utilized. You will work on multiple projects simultaneously, requiring strong prioritization and time management skills. **Key Responsibilities:** - Responsible for creating and enhancing custom applications running in Red Hat Openshift - Contribute to multiple projects simultaneously - Create and guide new feature development - Continuously test components and code on all levels to improve the CI system - Improve current solutions and workflows by favoring simple, repeatable solutions - Communicate effectively with associates at all levels, including senior management - Document solutions through development documentation, diagrams, and clear code **Qualifications Required:** - 3+ years of experience in writing web applications in Java (Spring Boot 2 preferred) - 3+ years of experience working with web frameworks like Angular, React, Ember - Ability to translate requirements into tasks - Understanding of modern web technologies such as HTML5, CSS, AJAX, cookies, etc. - Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, including root cause analysis - Familiarity with distributed source control like Git - Proficiency in planning and developing Web APIs using technologies like REST, JSON, XML **Considered a Plus:** - Experience with Python/Bash scripting - Experience with Openshift and containerization technologies like Docker - Understanding of web security and common exploits - Experience with various tools like Igloo, Google Apps, etc. - Experience with Linux Systems Administration - Knowledge of ESB or SOA components At Red Hat, we are the world's leading provider of enterprise open source software solutions, delivering high-performing Linux, cloud, container, and Kubernetes technologies.
