Software Applications Engineer

As a talented full stack web engineer at the IT DMC Development & Delivery Team, you will be responsible for enhancing the development capabilities by creating and enhancing custom applications that facilitate Red Hatters in their everyday work. The applications primarily run in Red Hat OpenShift with Java (Spring Boot 2) backends and Javascript UIs (Angular, Typescript, jQuery). Additionally, Python and Bash scripting are used for certain tasks. You will work on multiple projects simultaneously, requiring strong prioritization and time management skills. Key Responsibilities: - Responsible for creation and enhancement of custom applications in Red Hat OpenShift - Contribute to multiple projects simultaneously - Create and guide new feature development - Test components and code at all levels to improve the continuous integration (CI) system - Improve current solutions with a preference for simple, repeatable solutions - Communicate effectively with all levels of associates, including senior management - Document and demonstrate solutions through documentation, diagrams, code comments, and clear code - Assist in handling outages and critical bugs when necessary Qualifications Required: - 3+ years of experience in writing web applications in Java (Spring Boot 2 preferred) - 3+ years of experience working with web frameworks such as Angular, React, Ember - Ability to interpret requirements into tasks effectively - Understanding of modern web technology (HTML5, DOM, CSS, AJAX, cookies, sessions, etc.) - Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, including root cause analysis - Familiarity with distributed source control such as Git, including branching and merging - Ability to plan and develop public-internal Web APIs using related technologies like REST, JSON, XML, XSLT, etc. Additional Details about Red Hat: Red Hat is the world's leading provider of enterprise open source software solutions, emphasizing a community-powered approach to deliver high-performing technologies.
