Snr Transport Planner

Role & responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced and results-oriented Transport Planner to join our team. The role will focus on bus scheduling, route rationalization, and route planning to improve the efficiency of bus transportation systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mindset, a passion for public transit, and expertise in optimizing bus operations.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design and evaluate bus routes to optimize coverage, efficiency, and passenger convenience.

- Develop and manage efficient bus schedules based on passenger demand, traffic conditions, and operational constraints.

- Analyze route performance metrics and recommend adjustments to eliminate redundancy, improve speed, and reduce costs.

- Use data from GPS, ticketing systems, and passenger feedback to evaluate and enhance route and scheduling strategies.

- Collaborate with city authorities, bus operators, and internal teams to align transportation plans with strategic goals.

- Work closely with Chalos technology and operations teams to integrate route and scheduling solutions into the platform.

- Leverage Chalos proprietary tools and other transport modeling software to create scalable and sustainable transport solutions.

Qualifications and Skills:

- Bachelors degree in Transport Planning, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, or related fields.

- 6+ years of experience in public transportation planning, bus scheduling, or route optimization.

- Proficiency in GIS tools and transport modeling software (e.g., PTV Visum, TransCAD, or similar).

- Strong analytical skills with expertise in using data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).

- Knowledge of mobility challenges and public transportation systems in Indian cities.

- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

- Strong communication skills to present findings and recommendations to diverse stakeholders.

Preferred Attributes:

- Experience working in tech-driven public transit projects.

- Understanding of commuter behavior andbus transport systems in India.

- Familiarity with sustainability and smart mobility initiatives.
