As a Snowflake Archictect you will be expected to take an architecture lead role on our clients solution delivery engagements. This will involve ongoing analysis of business requirements throughout the lifetime of the service. Candidates will have a strong understanding of data architecture and analytics design and project delivery life-cycles with an emphasis of working in client facing environments.
You will design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance data solutions using the Snowflake Data Cloud. This role requires deep technical expertise in Snowflake architecture, data modelling, and integration with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust data strategies aligned with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Architectural Design: Develop end-to-end Snowflake-based data architectures including databases, schemas, virtual warehouses, and storage integrations. Define clustering, partitioning, and performance tuning strategies for optimal cost and speed.
- Data Integration & Engineering: Design and implement ELT/ETL workflows using tools like Snowpipe, Streams, Tasks, DBT, Airflow, Kafka, or Informatica. Ensure seamless integration with cloud storage (AWS S3, Azure Blob, GCP GCS).
- Performance & Cost Optimisation: Tune queries, warehouses, and caching for high performance. Optimise compute vs. storage usage for cost efficiency.
- Security & Governance: Implement RBAC, dynamic data masking, and encryption for compliance (GDPR, HIPAA, SOC2). Define governance standards and auditing processes.
- Collaboration & Leadership: Work closely with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Innovation: Evaluate emerging Snowflake features (Iceberg tables, Snowpark, Cortex) and integrate with AI/ML platforms.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Experience: 15+ years in data engineering/architecture, with at least 4+ years on Snowflake. Proven expertise in SQL, data modelling (3NF, star schema, snowflake schema), and ETL/ELT design.
- Technical Skills: Snowflake architecture (warehouses, databases, schemas, stages, streams, tasks). Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP. Tools: DBT, Airflow, Teradata, Informatica, Fivetran, Talend. BI tools: Tableau, Power BI, Looker.
- Certifications: SnowPro Core and SnowPro Advanced Architect (preferred).
- Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with data lakehouse architectures (Snowflake + Iceberg/Delta).
- Experience and demonstrated competencies in ETL development techniques and ETL tools like Teradata, ADF, Informatica,
- Exposure to AI/ML integration with Snowflake.
