Job Summary: The Site EHS Officer is responsible for implementing and maintaining a comprehensive Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) program at solar project sites. This role ensures compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company EHS policies and procedures. The Site EHS Officer will actively promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship among all personnel on site, including employees, subcontractors, and visitors. Responsibilities: EHS Program Implementation: Implement and enforce the site-specific EHS plan, ensuring alignment with project requirements and company standards. Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and non-compliance issues. Develop and deliver EHS training programs for all site personnel. Maintain accurate and up-to-date EHS records, including incident reports, inspection logs, and training documentation. Hazard Identification and Control: Conduct Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and risk assessments for various site activities. Identify and implement appropriate control measures to mitigate identified hazards. Monitor and ensure the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Implement and monitor the permit-to-work system. Implement and monitor Lock Out Tag Out procedures. Incident Management: Investigate all incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions. Prepare and submit incident reports in a timely and accurate manner. Coordinate emergency response activities in case of accidents or incidents. Environmental Management: Monitor and ensure compliance with environmental regulations, including waste management, erosion control, and spill prevention. Implement and maintain environmental monitoring programs as required. Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials. Communication and Collaboration: Communicate regularly with site management, subcontractors, and employees on EHS matters. Conduct daily/weekly safety meetings and toolbox talks. Participate in project planning meetings to ensure EHS considerations are integrated into all activities. Liaise with external EHS regulatory bodies as needed. Compliance and Documentation: Maintain up to date knowledge of all relevant EHS regulations. Ensure all required EHS documentation is maintained and readily available. Track and report on EHS performance metrics. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field . Proven experience of 8 years as an EHS Officer in construction or solar projects. Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal EHS regulations. Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH, IOSH) is highly desirable. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and training skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. First Aid/CPR certification. Ability to work in remote outdoor environments. Experience in electrical safety, and working at heights is a plus. Skills: Risk assessment and hazard identification. Incident investigation and reporting. EHS training and development. Physical Requirements: Ability to work in outdoor environments with exposure to varying weather conditions. Ability to lift and carry heavy objects. Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
