Position : Manager - Shipping Logistics

Exp : 5+ years.

Location : Chennai

Key Responsibilities :

1. Shipping & Freight Management

• Manage end-to-end ocean freight operations including booking, scheduling, vessel planning, and documentation.
• Coordinate with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and transporters for smooth cargo movement.
• Monitor inbound and outbound shipments to ensure on-time delivery and adherence to customer requirements.
• Handle export & import processes as per Incoterms, customs compliance, and global trade regulations.

2. Logistics Coordination

• Oversee daily logistics operations including dispatch planning, transportation allocation, and route optimization.
• Liaise with internal teams, warehouses, and cross-functional departments to ensure seamless logistics flow.
• Track cargo status, resolve delays, and manage logistics exceptions proactively.

3. Documentation & Compliance

• Prepare and review shipping documents such as BL/AWB, invoices, packing lists, COA, COO, and customs paperwork.
• Ensure compliance with company standards, ISO guidelines, and international trade regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of shipments, freight charges, and logistics trackers.

4. Vendor & Stakeholder Management

• Coordinate with transporters, shipping lines, CHA, warehouse operators, and global logistics partners.
• Negotiate freight rates, evaluate supplier performance, and support cost-saving initiatives.
• Support audits, vendor onboarding, and process improvements.

5. Data Management & Reporting

• Utilize SAP, ERP, or TMS systems for shipment tracking, delivery confirmation, and order management.
• Prepare daily/weekly/monthly logistics reports including freight cost analysis, transit performance, and operational KPIs.
• Analyze shipping trends and provide insights to enhance logistics efficiency.

Key Skills Required

• Strong knowledge of international logistics, ocean freight, and customs operations.
• Familiarity with Incoterms, export/import documentation, and global shipping regulations.
• Proficiency in SAP/ERP/TMS, MS Excel, and shipment tracking platforms.
• Excellent coordination, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to handle multiple shipments, priorities, and timelines.
  

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or related fields.
• 26 years experience in shipping, logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain operations (preferably automotive or industrial domain).
• Experience working with global OEMs or Tier-1 companies is an advantage.
