Job Description

Shift Engineer MRS
Position:

Shift Field Engineer (MRS)

Key Role:

Responsible for Power System operation, achieving the highest reliability of the power system while meeting required parameters and quality standards.
Responsible for power distribution and clearance to downstream units/substations.
Responsible for safe start-up and shutdown of equipment.
Responsible for handling power system emergencies.

Functions:

Work on EHV electrical power systems such as 220kV GIS, 33kV GIS, EHV transformers, along with NIFPS.
Operate the power system with the highest reliability.
Observe trends of important parameters and take corrective actions for deviations to maintain quality and reliability.
Maintain records and log books for the jobs carried out.
Record power system parameters on a regular basis and maintain records.
Maintain good housekeeping in the designated area.
Ensure minimum downtime of the power system and all electrical equipment.
Maintain records of bypass of trip and interlocks as per procedures.
Communicate and coordinate with executives in the field and other process units.
Conduct ReSOP as per target.
Report near-misses and incidents in the system.
Participate in PSM/OMS activities.

Knowledge: Safety

General safety rules.
Work permit procedures.
Use of firefighting and safety equipment.
Fire, smoke, and gas detection systems.
Emergency procedures on-site and off-site.
Fire causes and their control.
Planning for emergencies.
First aid training.
Overview of safety management systems.
Job safety analysis.
Pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR).
Electrical safety, including static electricity.
HSE statutory rules and regulations.
Understanding your health card.
Hazards in operation and hazards analysis (HAZOP & HAZAN).
Factories Actrules, applicability, and implications.
