Description
The Shade Development Manager is responsible for leading the development and optimization of yarn dyeing processes to achieve precise and consistent color matching. You will manage a comprehensive shade library, formulate dye recipes, ensure quality control, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet customer specifications and industry standards. Key Responsibilities: Shade Development & Dye Recipe Formulation: - Develop and customize dye recipes based on yarn type, count, order size, and desired finish. - Maintain and update a comprehensive shade library, categorizing shades for efficient retrieval and application. - Utilize advanced techniques to achieve precise color matching and consistency across production batches. Quality Control & Testing: - Conduct physical and chemical tests on dyed yarn to assess color fastness, levelness, and strength. - Classify dyed yarn into categories (e.g., OK1, OK2, OK3) based on quality parameters and coordinate corrective actions for substandard batches. - Implement and monitor quality control measures to ensure adherence to industry standards and customer requirements. Process Optimization & Efficiency: - Collaborate with production teams to optimize dyeing processes, reducing cycle times and minimizing waste. - Develop strategies to improve dyeing machine utilization and streamline color changeovers. - Coordinate with warehouse teams to manage remnant dyed yarn and reduce inventory costs. Cross-Functional Collaboration: - Work closely with design, production planning, and quality assurance teams to align shade development with product specifications and production schedules. - Provide technical support and training to staff on dyeing techniques, color matching, and quality standards. - Liaise with suppliers to source high-quality dyes and chemicals, ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with safety regulations. Documentation & Reporting: - Maintain detailed records of dye recipes, test results, and production parameters for traceability and continuous improvement. - Prepare regular reports on shade development activities, quality metrics, and process improvements for senior management. Qualifications and Requirements: Education: - Bachelors or Masters degree in Textile Engineering, Dyeing Technology, or a related field. - Certification in color science or dyeing technology is a plus. Experience: - Minimum of 5-12 years of experience in yarn dyeing and shade development, preferably in a managerial or supervisory role. - Proven track record in managing shade libraries, formulating dye recipes, and implementing quality control measures. Skills: - Expertise in yarn dyeing techniques, including VAT and reactive dyeing processes. - Strong understanding of color theory, fastness testing, and dye chemistry. - Proficiency in color matching software and laboratory equipment. - Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. - Ability to lead and mentor a team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
