Senior Software engineer
This role has been designed as Hybrid with an expectation that you will work on average 2 days per week from an HPE office.
:
Job Family Definition:
Designs, develops, troubleshoots and debugs software programs for software enhancements and new products. Develops software including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases and Internet-related tools. Determines hardware compatibility and/or influences hardware design.
Management Level Definition:
Applies expert subject matter knowledge to manage staff activities in solving most complex business/technical issues within established policies. Manages activities of exempt individual contributors (typically Expert/Master) and/or MG1s. Has accountability for a large multi-department area(s) or location(s) with significant impact on business unit results and organizational strategy. Acts as a key advisor to senior management on the development of overall policies and long-term goals of the organization. Plans, manages, and monitors high-end operational/tactical activities of Staff. Staff members primary focus is on either high-end tactical or broad strategic issues or a combination of both. Recruits and supports development of direct staff members. Position typically reports to Director or above.
Additional Guidance/Criteria: Manages and controls activities within a sub-region or Region; Typically manages 10 or more direct reports. Span of Control guidelines may differ from these numbers.

What You ll Do:
  • Lead a high-performing engineering team focused on the design, development, and delivery of WiFi features.
  • Develop and manage project plans, including dependencies, action items, risks, and mitigation plans.
  • Work closely with software engineering, hardware engineering, product management, marketing, support, and other relevant teams.
  • Cultivate strong working relationships with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth collaboration and efficient execution.

  • Assist in solving complex customer issues and queries reported from the field and drive customer satisfaction.
What you need to bring:
  • 15+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • 6+ years of people management experience, managing engineers.
  • Strong understanding of Networking, 802.11 protocols, software development, firmware, and related technologies.
  • Excellent C/C++/Go programming, design, problem solving and debugging skills
  • Ability to identify and resolve issues that may arise during the development and deployment process.
  • Proven track record building and managing software modules/components for engineering teams
  • Experience working with geographically distributed teams and leading multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to identify growth opportunities, build development plans with direct reports, and conduct development discussions.
  • Hold technical meetings with the Customer to discuss networking problems including the reasons for problems encountered and the workarounds and/or solutions being provided.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders as required on the overall status of the project or issue.
