Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced scientific leader to join our API R&D Division. The role combines technical excellence in synthetic and process chemistry with strategic leadership and client-facing responsibility.

The selected candidate will spearhead the design, optimization, and scale-up of robust, safe, and cost-efficient processes while driving project execution for global CDMO clients. This is a dual business and technical leadership position ideal for professionals with a passion for both science and strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and design multi-step organic synthesis for APIs, intermediates, and KSMs.
• Develop and optimize robust, scalable processes for laboratory, kilo lab, and pilot scales. Good knowledge in digital systems for chemistry
• Drive route scouting, impurity profiling, and crystallization strategy development.
• Prepare proposals and cost estimations for client projects.
• Mentor and guide a team of 710 scientists in route design, reaction troubleshooting, and analytical interpretation.
• Manage custom synthesis and contract research projects, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
• Act as a technical and business liaison with global clients to discuss project progress, challenges, and strategy.
• Support DMF documentation, process validation, and regulatory compliance for global submissions.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with analytical, process safety, and manufacturing teams for seamless tech transfer.
• Good knowledge in GLP/GMP, EHS, and ICH standards.

Key Skills & Competencies

• Expertise in Organic Synthesis, Mechanistic Understanding, and Route Design
• Proven experience in reaction optimization, purification, and isolation techniques
• Strong knowledge of analytical data interpretation (NMR, HPLC, GC, LC-MS)
• Exposure to CRDMO business models, client management, and DMF filings
• Proven leadership experience in CDMO or API R&D environments
• Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation skills
• Strong project planning, resource allocation, and timeline management abilities
