Senior Mechanical Design Engineer Sheet Metal

Key Responsibilities

Sheet Metal Design & Engineering

• End-to-end design and development of

  sheet metal components

  for automotive / EV applications
• Create

  3D models, assemblies, and fabrication-ready drawings

  using

  SolidWorks

• Ensure designs meet

  manufacturing feasibility (DFM/DFA)

  and cost targets
• Perform

  tolerance stack-up analysis

  and apply

  GD&T as per ASME/ISO standards

• Support design validation through prototype builds and manufacturing feedback
  

Manufacturing & Quality

• Strong understanding of

  sheet metal manufacturing processes

  (bending, welding, laser cutting, fabrication)
• Collaborate with vendors and internal manufacturing teams to resolve design issues
• Ensure compliance with

  automotive quality standards and best practices

• Support continuous improvement and design optimization initiatives
  

Leadership & Collaboration

• Lead and mentor

  junior design engineers / module owners

• Coordinate with

  cross-functional teams

  including manufacturing, quality, sourcing, and electrical teams
• Participate in design reviews and technical decision-making
  

Required Skills & Qualifications

Education

• B.E / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering

  or equivalent

Experience

• 810 years

  of relevant experience in

  automotive / EV / energy hardware

  domain
• Strong hands-on experience in

  sheet metal design

Technical Skills

• SolidWorks (mandatory)

  Sheet Metal, Weldments, Assemblies, 2D Drawings
• Strong knowledge of

  GD&T (ASME / ISO)

• Experience in

  tolerance stack-up analysis

• Good understanding of

  manufacturing processes

  related to sheet metal components
• Exposure to

  automotive quality standards

Soft Skills

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Proven experience in

  technical leadership / team handling

• Ability to work in a

  fast-paced product development environment
